Pennsylvania finally has a funding formula for K-12 education. HB 1552 was signed by the Governor on June 1, 2016. Now, with immediate adoption of the new Basic Education Funding Commission Formula, Pennsylvania can fix 25 years of bitter debate, while providing special annual reparations to bring the identified 180 underfunded districts to their correct funding levels.
Equity First was formed to make sure the 180 underfunded districts get paid.
Equity First stands for fairness, transparency, and making things right. Equity First wants state funding to be distributed through fair-funding formulas, not politics as usual. It’s time to fix 25 years of unfairness.
Equity First’s mission is to raise awareness of the current unfair practice of funding Pennsylvania’s school districts and promote a funding strategy that ensures accountability, transparency, and predictability.
